The AMG8833 ir thermal camera module is an 8×8 infrared thermal sensor array. When connected to your microcontroller, it will return a set of 64 individual infrared temperature readings via I2C. This is like those fancy thermal imaging cameras, but compact and simple for easy integration. The sensor only supports I2C and has a configurable interrupt pin, which can trigger when any single pixel is higher or lower than the threshold you set. On Pi, with the help of image processing from SciPy python library, we can insert 8×8 grids and get some very good results.
